Workshop 1 – Paperwork
  • Discuss the Key difference’s between contemporary acting and Shakespearian performance
  • Identifying/ Translating Shakespeare into a Modern sense
  • Identifying Rhetorical Features
  • Introduce Scansion and it’s use as a tool
  • Homework- Performers need to pick out a monologue and bring it to the next class. Not to exceed 2 minutes. Memorization not required at this phase.

Workshop 2 – Cadence, Color and Choice
  • Define Cadence and Color: How Cadence and Color interact with Technical features
  • Exercises to access cadence and color
  • Discuss Choice as it relates to Shakespeare’s hightened circumstances
  • Work on Monologue
  • Homework: Scenes and Scene partners assigned. Performers start memorizing monologues

February 3rd: 12:15PM - 3:15PM, Central Library

Workshop 3 – Shakespeare’s Dialogue
  • How Dialogue differs from monologue
  • Scene work
  • Homework - Next session we are auditioning for “________” come prepared with a memorized monologue not to exceed 2 minutes and ready to do cold reads from the play. Performers need to read the Play
